Giving Up Is Good

Tzipi Livni has learned something from the leftist cowards. Retreating and giving up is the only mantra that they know.

Tzipi Livni, who hopes to be appointed Israel's prime minister-designate, said Monday Israel must give up considerable territory in exchange for peace with the Palestinians, drawing a clear distinction with her rival, Benjamin Netanyahu.

She told a convention of American Jewish leaders, "we need to give up half of the Land of Israel," using a term that refers to biblical borders that include today's Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, repeating her well-known view that pulling out of Palestinian areas would be for the good of Israel, to maintain it as a Jewish state.
Yes, because last time, it worked so well. How many conflicts have occurred since retreating from lands? I think we are getting close to needing two hands to count on. Over the last 5 years it is 2: Lebanon and Gaza. Yeah, that is a much better peaceful situation now.

So, based on who voted for whom in the Israeli elections, and who voted for whom in the US, my guess will be that Kadima will win the government and thus concede lands, Syria will attack Israel when the pull from Golan, Hamas and the PA will continue their assault, and Iran will build their bomb and use it against Israel (with the help of USSR).

Keep your fingers crossed.

Hi, captain.

Actually, Israel unilaterally retreated from the Security Zone in Lebanon in the year 2000.
But you are right in that land for peace has never worked for Israel (well, except maybe in Egypt's case), starting with handing over Gaza to Arafat back in the 1990's. And it never will, because the Arabs don't want peace. What they don't want is Israel to be around. Anywhere, anytime. Throw in the Hezbos as well, they are just waiting for the right moment.
One has to wonder though what Bibi's options are, what with the new administration. Not too many, not too good, I should think.
