Civil Rights is Only a Black Thing

Post from February 7, 2006:

Heaven forbid our national "republican" leaders praise and honor those who were in the forefront in seeking equal civil rights for all. So, what, now only blacks can honor dead blacks? And they say that conservatives are rascist. If this isn't they height of rascism ...

"The Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton lambasted President Bush Monday night at a memorial service in Atlanta for Coretta Scott King, faulting him for the Iraq war and for ignoring the plight of black people.

Jackson and Sharpton's comments blasting government figures like Bush for trying to make the King legacy their own "galvanized the crowd" during a three-hour service at the city's famed Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Associated Press said.

"We can't let them take her from us and reduce her to their trophy and not our freedom fighter," Jackson said.

"This is not a celebrity funeral," added Sharpton. "This is us coming to say thank you to a woman who took a bullet in her husband and kept on marching."

Would they say this if the prez was Pres. Clinton?? Of course not. He was the first black president.
