Congress loves their Taxes

Post from April 26, 2006:

From an AP story posted online at NewsMax.com:
"New Jersey Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez offered an amendment Tuesday that would suspend the 18.4 cents-per-gallon federal gasoline tax for two months, with its cost financed by lifting tax breaks on the oil industry.

Menendez said the measure would give Americans immediate but temporary relief from high gas prices. During the two-month period, the cost of gas would be reduced by 18.4 cents per gallon and the cost of diesel would be reduced by 24.4 cents per gallon..."
........two months??? WTH?!?!? The Congress can afford to cut more taxes than that. Just look at how much money they are able to spend every year on their bloated budgets. They can afford to do without a few extra 100 million when the budget is 4-6 trillion dollars and growing.

And why are oil companies getting tax breaks? Repeal the tax breaks and the federal taxes on oil refining!!! If Congress and the people are so worried and angry over oil company profits, then why in the world are we giving them tax breaks?? Take them back? Make them pay them back!?!??!

This is like giving food stamps to the latest multi-millionaire Lottery winner. GOOD LORD what are they thinking?!?!!?
