Time To Burn Books Again

Post from November 2, 2006:

Wow, its been a long time since I last posted. Time to get started again and leave my friends alone. They are getting overwhelmed with my yahoo IMs.
Michigan - Mark Twain's classic "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" has been pulled from high school classes after a parent of a black student complained that a teacher had students read portions aloud.

There is only one black child in the English class where the book, which contains racial slurs, was read aloud and acted out, The Detroit News reported Thursday.
Ummmm.. once again, the minority dictate the actions of the majority. So, what other books of classic writing and history are we going to delete?????

Seems to me that a book like this, with its old historical way of speaking and writing, could have been a great opportunity to teach a lesson on equality and history. Nope. Instead we are told it has to be banned altogether for the use of a single racial remark. A remark that is NOW considered racial when used by white folks but used as a term of endearment by black folk.

Now, is this equality??
